Redirect chain
That's one signal. Your site has more.
The Website Health Check covers the big picture: Google Lighthouse speed scores plus DNS, SSL, email authentication, and AI access in one report.
Run the Website Health CheckHow it works
We follow the domain from both entrances — plain http:// and secure https:// — hop by hop, up to eight redirects deep, and show every URL and status code along the way. Verdicts cover the http-to-https handoff, chain length, loops, the final page's status, and whether www and the bare domain agree.
When to use this
After a migration or domain change, when a link in an email or ad campaign misbehaves, or when SEO tools complain about redirect chains. It's also the fastest way to see exactly where an old URL ends up today.
Frequently asked questions
How many redirects is too many?
One or two is normal — bare domain to www, http to https. Three or more starts costing real load time, since each hop is a full round trip before your page starts loading, and it usually means an old rule nobody cleaned up.
What does the www check mean?
Your site should answer at both example.com and www.example.com, with one redirecting to the other. If they end at different pages, search engines see two competing sites and split your ranking signals between them.
Why does the tool say my chain is broken?
Either it runs through more than eight hops or a hop points at a server that doesn't answer. Both mean visitors give up before reaching a page — point the first redirect straight at the final destination.
