What does the Website Health Check tell me?
Two things. How your site performs for someone on a phone, scored the way Google scores it: speed, accessibility, whether it's built correctly, and the search basics. And whether your domain is set up so people can reach you and trust you: the site is live, the connection is secure, nobody can send email in your name, and the AI assistants your customers ask are allowed to read your pages.
Is the Website Health Check free?
Yes. Your email unlocks the combined report: the individual checks on the tools page run without one, but this page runs everything at once, including the full speed test. We don't share your address or sell it. There's nothing to install and no account to create.
Why do browsers say my site is not secure?
Because the connection between your visitor and your site isn't encrypted. Usually the certificate expired, was issued for a different address, or was never installed. Visitors see that warning before they see your homepage, and most leave without finding out why. The check tells you whether yours is in good shape.
What is a good score?
Google groups scores into three bands: 90 to 100 is good, 50 to 89 needs improvement, and under 50 is poor. Speed is the hardest band to hold, and it's the one visitors feel first. Scores also move a few points between runs, because each test loads your page live, so read the band rather than the exact number.
Could someone email my customers pretending to be me?
If your domain has no SPF or DMARC record — or a DMARC policy of none, a record that only watches — yes. Anyone can send email that looks like it came from your address, and your customers get an invoice or a password reset that appears to be from you and isn't. It also makes your real email likelier to land in spam, because mailbox providers trust an unprotected domain less. Whoever manages your domain can add the records, and tighten the policy once your real senders pass.
Can I check a competitor's website?
Yes, or a supplier's, or your own. Everything the check reads is already public, so nothing is installed and nothing on the site is changed. It's a fair way to see where you stand before you spend money on a redesign.
